To Dr. King-

The best way to bring Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

I am a little obsessed with Christmas music. I have decided to share my love with you. Please enjoy some of my favorites whenever you visit my bloggy.

Losing

I'm losing the blog war. HARD.

So I'm pretty much over school. I've been doing a final project for....all day. But at least I'm not breaking out. ZING! (You know you love me.) I'm obsessed with this video - oh christmas lights, keep shinin on. We did cure for the cold last friday and we got so many donations...it was crazy! I had my interview with the U of U SOM last Thursday which went well. and now just have FINALS to look forward to. BARF. On a happier note, I love my love life. It provides me with constant sources of entertainment. I feel like I don't have much to blog about. The UTAH v BYU game was epic as always....with the Utes pullin out the W on a blocked field goal attempt! (Thanks to the gorgeous Br. Burton!) This week I have lots of studying ahead of me! Final project for the Honors Think Tank is due tomorrow afternoon...gotta do serious work and finish it because Erin and I have tickets on the 17TH ROW to the Jazz game on Monday!!!! That's right row 1-7. So Stoked. I'm also stoked for the fact that I did laundry so I now have pants to wear. Yesssssssss. And I have two people on my list of seven that I am done shopping for. Woot. But apparently, we do gift exchanges at UWC...which really makes my wallet say owwww. (and not in a good way like Oww owww! more like ow it hurts so so much.) Well, enough procrastinating. Back to my project......................................

Keeping Up

I am writing this purely to keep up with how many posts Liz makes.

Today was the start of Rivalry Week!  GO UTES!
I've been studying for most of the day for my Mammology exam that is tomorrow. I'm over it. I'm very ready for the rest of this week. Starting Wednesday. I have a massage Wednesday. And a baking bonanza con mi madre. Then Thursday is Thanksgiving! which means lots of free leftovers = money saved on groceries! Friday may involve some shopping but most likely homework of some kind. Lame. Saturday is the BYU - UTAH game!!! Can't wait to see my boys crush those cougs!!!

In honor of us being a classless bunch of fans, I am posting this awesome joke I heard:

A Ute, an Aggie and a Cougar were hiking together when they came across an old coke bottle.  When they picked it up a genie popped out in a cloud of smoke.
"For freeing me I shall grant each of you one wish."

The Aggie thought for a moment, then said, "Well, agriculture is important to our state school, so my wish is that Cache valley always have good crops each season."
"It is done." said the Genie.

The Cougar thought for a moment and said, "Well, we in Happy Valley like to be in the world but not of the world, so my wish is that there be an invisible wall around Utah Valley."
"It is done." said the Genie.

"Fill the valley with water." Said the Ute

Sweet Cuppin' Cakes

I love cupcakes. and on that note, who doesn't? They're delicious. I was thinking about them today because HANNAH texted me about them. And not just any cupcake but Georgetown Cupcake! YUMMMM. Ok enough about cupcakes. And a legit update on my life. I'm winding down my last Fall semester at the University of Utah. I don't know how to feel about it really. LIZ moves home in Four Weeks!!!    I have my first interview on December 2nd! And by some random stroke of luck, I'm going to be a paid employee at the clinic for the next month and a half!!! (Just in time for christmas money and such a blessing!) So basically....WOOT. Also, it is two days until we go to see HARRY POTTER and OMG I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I had time to re-read the 7th book before then but alas, I do not. My past physics TA who went to Federal Prison for stealing moon rocks from NASA when he was an intern at NASA is finally off probation. And throwing a party. I was invited. The most ironic thing about this was he made it an event on facebook and for the photo he used the book cover from the upcoming book Ben Mezrich wrote about him and his "audacious heist". So funny, right? Too bad I'm going to a white trash wedding bar crawl and can't go....so very, very sad. ha.

Pins

It is so quiet in the Burb that I can hear a pin drop. I've done pretty much nothing productive at work tonight. Terrible, I know. School has begun. I have started my final year at the U! Crazy. I'm keeping very busy as always with work, school, research, volunteering, and teaching. Add to that all the secondary apps I have to complete for medical schools and I have lost all my free time. However I have a bit of free time tonight and I will be spending it in my hammocka. Que Bueno! I scored a great deal at the outlets in park city today! A skirt at AE was marked $29.95 and it was definitely $6.95 = Money! Also got a sweet red columbia coat and a mtn hrd wear base layer (so so soft!). I can't wait to wear it running or to class. I will just sit and rub it the whole time because it's so soft! Anyways, going to go be productive. Peace.

Junebug

There is a sweet song called junebug. I got it for free from iTunes some time ago. But I was thinking about it today. I'm listening to the USA-Ghana World Cup game as I tie a blanket for my coworker's daughter. She is having a baby in like 3 weeks. She looks like she's going to pop. The hawaiian party went well and was very fun! I'll have to post a picture or two soon. We bought a flamingo mural at the dollar store and we decided to keep it up in the apartment until we have to take it down for some reason. I got sad news this week. My roommate Bre is moving out next month :( so I have been scrambling to find someone to replace her on the lease!!!! My friend from RAing days in the Dorms, Erin, wants to move in so she is coming to check out the place next week and hopefully she'll be delighted with it! I leave for El Salvador in two weeks....I'm so excited!!! I bought a cute new swimsuit to take down with me. I need to go grab odds and ends like bug spray and a sleeping bag liner but I'm ready to go other than that :) woot woot.

A not so personal statement

Writing personal statements suck! How are you supposed to adequately capture yourself in 5300 characters? I kinda just wanna go to disneyland right now. We're having a little get together for Lana at my apartment tomorrow and I'm very excited! It's hawaiian themed...bahaha let the lei jokes begin! We have to go to the dollar store tomorrow and get decorations and the DI to get sweet hawaiian shirts! Or grass skirts and coconut bras...ha. I have a very long day of work tomorrow so I'll go and post a post after the party!

PS finally got new carpet and my room looks better than ever!

Sunday, May 30

Well, it has been an eventful week! Water flooded my bedroom, kitchen and bathroom last Monday so I've been kickin it on the couch, homeless style. I also have all my clothes and such in our kitchen...our apartment is a disaster and I apologize to anyone that comes by. I've been keeping busy with summer classes, being a TA for human physiology, doing research, and volunteering at Utah Women's Clinic...you know, the usual. New boys have entered the picture and some have drifted back unintentionally....the river guide, the climber, the soccer fan, the corner-back, the blue-eyes, and the surprise.....yeah I've got my hands full. Hahaha. Hannah, one my best girlfriends, came home today for a week from DC! I'm so excited to see her :D We're grabbing a bagel at Rich's tomorrow...Can't wait! LIZ is being a bum and won't call me back, yeah I'm callin you out! Hmm what else is new? Besides loving every second of my life (minus mildewy carpets)...not much! Oh, it's wedding season. Should I be upset? No. Want to know why? Because I get to go to all of the receptions and eat tons of their desserts and not bring a gift. BOOM.

Frenzied

I should be typing my project for anatomy colloquium but you know what I'm doing? Listening to  A Fine Frenzy. The lyrics are just so good! For example:

So lace your hands 'round the small of my back
And I will kiss you, like a king
I will be your bride
I'll keep you warm at night
I will sing, I will sing

It was now and we were both in the same place
I didn't know how to say the words
With my heart ticking
Like a bomb in a birdcage
I left before someone got hurt

Cuz it was, what I wouldn't do
I might, if I had you
It was, what I wouldn't do
When I had you, babe
When I had you

OR:

You are a thunderous thing,
Wondrous king
The face of a marvelous God,
It's deep in your thoughts

Come here, oh closer to touch
Never enough
Let me climb under your skin
Oh let me in

From your lips, a precipice
I hang on every word
Height and seeking
Oh, we are reaching
New heights and seeking
How to keep them high?
Keep 'em high?

Free time

You know what rocks? Free time. Time to myself where I can do whatever I want to do. Do you realize how long it has been since I have had free time? Since January. Ew. Does that gross you out? It grosses me out. Tomorrow is going to be quite a long day. I have to administer two final lab practicums tomorrow. Not too excited about that. And then I have grading to look forward to.
I love talking on the phone with Hannah. She cracks me up. I only say that because I just got off the phone with her. Speaking of weed, I saw Netelbeek today and he acted like a jerk. I guess I should not be surprised. Speaking of chocolate, Liz went home without saying goodbye and because I know she's probably the only person reading this I am going to add a big BOO! to that. Ya heard. You know what else about chocolate? I had some super good chocolate at the climber's last night. Yum. Bahaha. I just need to survive until the summer. Summer = sun. Summer = pool. Summer = a very happy Lisa.

L.

PS I had two ice cream sandwiches for dessert. Don't judge me.

A sinistra, a sinistra....

For those of you who don't speak italiano - the title of this post is "To the left, to the left..." in honor of beyonce because I think she rocks! She rocks in an analogous fashion to how I rocked the MCAT today! woot woot! So now that's done and I can focus on cramming in two weeks or so of biological chemistry into an 8-hr hell day because I take that test tomorrow at 17:00. I'm not saying that in non-military time, by the way, just learn to add. This weekend should be a nice relief but it is also just as busy! Oh well. Liz is on her way down. Oh wait....SHE'S HERE! yaya! We're doing redbox and a burrito from alberto's? Never been there but Liz was havin a hankerin' so there ya go. My hands have been way dry lately! Anyone else have this problem? It makes my hands look old  :( Speaking of weed, I'm waiting for B.Chou to come over and grab a concert ticket from me. He sold his for weed. Love that kid. I'm also somewhat freezing in my apartment because we turned down the heat cuz it was 80 last weekend...huh, weird. (For those of you who don't know the voice inflection to go along with the "huh, weird" you really need me or stacie to do it for you...it's just not as funny without it.) Keeping things secret with the climber is proving harder than expected. Some people are just way nosy and I had to lie to them today. I ignored the runner's call (or just didn't call back) today and I had to bail on the corner for tomorrow because I spaced the silent auction for Benefit El Salvador and Kylie-Rachel's birthday!!!  The auction is at 336 South and 800 East in Salt Lake City from 18-21:00 and there are a lot of cool things up for grab!!! Come check it out!

Nicknames Galore

So some updates are in order. Enter The Runner. Met him while out with friends about a month ago and went out last night with him. We'll see what happens. He's kind of already leaning towards a clinger situation. Not cool. And also enter The Climber. (I know what you're thinking..."Lisa- two in one weekend?? You dog!") He's gorgeous. So happy about that situation. We'll see about that. The only low point to my weekend (aside from the total combined 8 hrs of sleep between both nights) was having The Ex show up at my place of work. The Burb is my place; my Ex-free zone. And he violated that! I'm still irked. But some grey's and mini-eggs should smooth that over in no time. After I finish practicing my lecture for tomorrow...eek. Nervous about that fa sho. 70 minutes on Cardiac Output and Ischemic Heart Disease...stoked! I think my brain is going to explode. I have way too much to do all the time. My planner looks like my pen threw up on the pages. There is literally an hour or two all week of white space left. MCAT countdown is down to 13 days. It's time to begin the prayers.

PS: Oh, I forgot a guy to mention... The BFF. He was secret but due to recent actions of one asshole Ex, I could care less if he's exposed.

News

I have good news and bad news. Several rounds of good news and bad news actually. Tonight we had a BES fundraiser at The Scientist's house. The good news: He wasn't there. The bad news: I de-legged a pinata. Tomorrow I book my flight to El Salvador. The good news: It's going to be an amazing experience. The bad news: it's going to cost me 700 smack-a-rooneys. Okay just one more...We're going out for Funk's 21st tomorrow. The good news: I can't wait to see all those guys! The bad news: I have no monies to go out. Okay I think I'm done now.

Five days later...

My spring break is over. All I have done is study. And hang out with the dogs. And eat girl scout cookies. Samoas to be exact. I did have some good news. I was able to transfer my MCAT location to Taylorsville instead of St. George!!! woot. You know what the best part about that is? I'm going up the street to the Great Harvest to celebrate with some delicious Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies the size of my FACE. Yesssss.... It has been far too long since I have been to that restaurant. Now that we're on the topic of food, I'd like to thank/blame my cousin Erica for getting me hooked on coconut. I was never a huge fan until I went out to DC for my birthday (almost one year ago!) and had it on frozen yogurt all the time. Plus on some delicious cupcakes from Georgetown Cupcake. I just want to go back to DC. Basically. Hence me applying to both Georgetown and George Washington Universities for Medical School. Woot. Sometimes I love Roxie the wiener dog and sometimes she drives me crazy. Right now she's laying in my lap like a sweetheart and earlier she was being a terror. Well, I'm over it. Imma go shower now.

Events of a March Monday

I love Easter time. And it's not for the reasons you think. I like Easter for the CANDY. Mainly the Cadbury MiniEggs and Starburst Jelly Beans. Ok ok, the Reese's Pieces carrots too. What's not to love??? I also love 50 minute phone calls with the skier. They make me happy like this : D  My first day of spring break consisted of tanning, the library, and a tutoring appointment. Very uneventful. The one eventful event to happen today was.....A SPIDER ATTACK! Lemme e'splain-

I was doing some physics homework and minding my own business. I went to look at my planner for tomorrow (I had put a pen in it to hold my place. This seems unimportant now but just remember it.). I opened it and staring back at me was a HUGE  hobo spider!!! Of course I naturally jumped up, screaming, and tossed all contents of my lap across the room. It then became a hunt to find the beast, for it blended in with our dark office-like carpet. I found him, then lost him, then found him. Poor guy. He suffered the two pronged attack of aerosol windex and my sandal from chinatown. He didn't stand a chance.

So that is my epic spider attack story. I would post crazy dreams on here but nowadays I just dream of failing the MCAT and then weird things like Patrick getting Stacie drunk and getting her to marry him in Vegas...........I'll try and remember my next one and document it in a blog post.

PS Met a guy Saturday who wants to "hang out" not sure if I'm feelin it....Liz- what do you think?

Scrub-a-dub

I got home from clinic today and was too comfy in my new scrub pants to change in to jeans. Big Mistake. I got so many strange looks. It could have been the fact that they were key-lime green in color...but they were still cute! Meh. I'm over it. I have an examination tomorrow in Biological chemistry. But you know what it really is? A test to see how many intermediate structures, enzymes, reagents, and byproducts one students can remember. It's sadly unfair. But, in all honesty, life isn't fair so why should BioChem be? I have spent ~15 hrs studying for this exam. FML. I'm ready for it though. On to happier news---> I successfully drew a patient's blood today at the clinic. woot. Annoying news---> the TDS won their NCAA tournament game. Cue all the comments from their fans about how they win because they do what's "right" on and off the court. Save it. And even BETTER news...I get to sleep now! Yesssss.....

L.

PS Liz- I'm winning in our friendly blogging competition. Can u handle that?!

Friday, March 12

Falling awake

Remember that one time...when I fell asleep on a Friday night and woke up at 11? Oh yeah, me too. It's a sign I shouldn't go out. Considering I have to wake up in 8 hours it's probably a good idea. So many things on my mind, can't keep them straight. One thing is for sure, I can't wait for cnidarians next Tuesday in lab!!! Probably my favorite week ever in Biol lab. Now I think I'll find my inner fish for a bit then hopefully sleep well. Had way too many nightmares last night. That plus only 4 hours of sleep was no bueno. Rich's with Liz face tomorrow = delicious. Asiago cheese toasted with garden veggie cream cheese...it makes me hungry just thinking about it!

Relief

It has been a stressful week. Feeling sick never comes at an opportune time. I have a project to complete before next Wednesday and I planned a fund-raising event for later that day also. MCAT physics is kickin my butt. Big teme (rasta style). PS I hate the people who live above me. They are just irritating people. Grandpa had his aortic semi-lunar valve replaced today. He's doing well now and I'd like to keep it that way. I'm also getting desperate. Ma' girls will know what I'm talking about ha. I met a firefighter last Saturday. Oh so cute. I'm seeing him again tomorrow. I could use some fun. I've felt like crying all the time since Wednesday...which is no bueno. I got to see everyone last night at stacie-face's 21st birthday party! Woo woo! Now the countdown begins to My birthday and Liz's! (Well technically Liz's first.) We went to the pie and all my clothes smelled like it when I got home last night. ew. It was also snowing super bad. Liz and I ran and we both ran right in to puddles cuz we rock like that. I'm craving pizza again. Haha today in the waiting room, my grandma discovered she liked my fruit snacks I brought with me and ate two packs! I came prepared with snacks today because Wednesday we went from like 11:00 to 18:00 without food! we waited and waited for doctors and surgeons and knew that if we left, they would come. Now I have to take a physics quiz before my MCAT class tomorrow. P,L, & E.

Asparagine + Aspartate = an asparagus migraine?

Why hello. It is the last week of February. Can you believe how fast it flew by??? I'm one month closer to the MCAT! ahhh stressssssingggg out. I worry about it constantly. I'll probably give myself an ulcer. Right now, however, I'm sitting on my bedroom floor wearing leggings as pants and my underarmour Utah hoodie contemplating what sounds good for dinner at 21:30. Late dinner, I know. But I ate my weight in cheese pull-a-part around 16:00...so it evens out. I'm not even that hungry. I'll probably resort to a pack of edamame. So delicious! It's been rainy and dreary all day but somehow I was in a good mood. I volunteered in clinic this morning and was by myself at the front desk for 3 hours....which wouldn't be a big deal if we weren't absolutely SWAMPED!!!!!! anyway, it made my morning fly by if nothing else. I spent the evening in the Foothill library studying for Biochemistry. Who knew amino acids could be such a headache??? I have uncovered this truth, oh yes. In two weeks I get to lead a tutor info meeting with my boss Nikki. I'm stoked. I was recently CPR certified and I think I have to make up some scenarios about Student-Athletes dropping dead of cardiac arrest and what to do if it happens...? I guess I'll find out as it gets closer. I think that's all I'm going to say.

Cheesecakery

I love long weekends! I have had a very long week and deserve a break :) I have to grade tests for anatomy, add them up, study MCAT, celebrate Bre's birthday, and do my taxes this weekend! ha guess it won't be much of a break oh well. I miss Liz. She is too far away in Logan. It makes me want to drive up there. And then I remember that I have no money for gas and I no longer want to drive there haha. So love life chronicles are quite boring right now. I will be visiting the skier for Spring Break! The scientist kind of faded in to oblivion and it's definitely for the best. I need a manly distraction right now. I get too stressed out with all that I have to do! hehe. I want to say what I got bre for her 21st on here because she doesn't read this! I got her a cute shirt at forever 21 and also engraved a glass for her at things remembered (props to my boss/girl Nikki for the idea and coupon!)...I hope she likes them! I bought more for myself at forever than I did for Bre. It was sad. I'm making cheesecake for a little birthday get together tomorrow and I need to run to the store for ingredients! I've used a lot of exclamation points in this post!!! toodles.

Deathbed

The new semester starts tomorrow. I'm going to be so busy I don't even want to think about it! I'll be working, researching, taking classes, TAing, and studying for the MCAT. I think I may die before the semester is over. Fo sho. I have decided to start the chronicle that is my love life on here...it makes for much more interesting posts :) Last semester consisted of The Ex, The Cheater, The Sigma Chi, The Soldier, and The Guy from WV (I don't think I really want to count him). I think that is everyone. The break consisted of The Skier and The Scientist. The Skier was very unexpected. But I'm curious to know why things happened the way they did. The Scientist was unexpected also, but it's brilliant. Jolly good, even. We'll see what happens.  I don't have a huge amount of time to devote to any one person. I prefer to not get attached and date 5 at once. Haha. I'm already getting attached to The Scientist. Which is unusual for me and not sure what it means. Basically, this semester will be...interesting.
