Thanksgiving weekend - with captions

I spent my Thanksgiving in Arlington, VA with family. Here are the photos I stole from Erica's blog from the weekend.
After Thanksgiving Dinner
Watching the Lions disappoint me and simultaneously teaching Alex to cheer for the Lions - Gotta start young :) Every time I said, "Go Lions! Yay Lions!" she giggles, smiles, and claps her hands!
Apparently very exhausted after bouncing on my knees while Mom and Dad did tree stuff - I loved being an extra set of hands to watch this adorable girl
Playing Superwoman at the Tree Lot - notice the baby uggs that match her Momma's
Teaching Alex to put the gel clings on the door - every time she stuck one on she clapped and got so excited
She then discovered they stretched. And proceeded to take them all off the door and play with them
Please have some peppermint chocolate I just had in my mouth, Aunt Lisa (Notice the tight lips on my face? She was shoving them in my mouth haha)
ALEX LOVES CAFE RIO TOO! YAY!

Weeks

It has been weeks since my last post. But, to be honest, not much has happened! Halloween was fun and I have my costume pics on here, Erica and Ben came up and I put those pics on here... other than that I have just been going to the gym, going to class, and trying to maintain a social life haha.
I just got back from Arlington yesterday, where I spent Thanksgiving with Erica, Ben, and their daughter Alexandra who gets cuter every day. It was rough being on Alex's schedule - I do not know how Erica does it every day! The best part of my trip (other than spending time with my cute family of course) was that Erica took me to CAFE RIO and CARIBOU COFFEE!!!!!!!!!!! (I think I am too easily excited about food.) At Cafe Rio, I was positively giddy in line when I ordered and the lady who made my salad ended up being a manager who had to do a ton of training in Salt Lake, Logan, and Provo. She asked if I was from Utah and was also happy that I was getting my pork salad after 5 months. Getting to and from DC was quite the adventure: I rode a Greyhound Bus for the first time in my life! On the way back, we left an hour late because our bus' battery died. Turns out they do not keep jumper cables on the bus (because people will steal them) and the terminal in DC does not allow idling. Recipe for a dead bus battery. But after an hour, we got rolling and I got home in one piece. Yay.
What else is new? I got instagram. You can find a link to my account on the side of my blog. I am not ready for Christmas. Not even close. It is hard to get in the spirit when it doesn't snow and it was 60+ degrees last week. Hopefully the decorations and weather will melt my grinchiness. I guess I am kind of boring right now. School rules my life. Basically. But I love it, so it's ok.

"Oooh A camera... I want to touch it."

Alex and Ben at Independence Hall

Apparently, We wanted a butt picture. Mine wins.

I will try to be better about posting photos and posts over the next month. Even if it is to count down until I go home for Christmas.

Vows

As I perused some blogs of former friends from high school that have been married for almost as long as we've been out of high school....I decided that I have a decent list of things I vow never to do. Sorry if you thought I was engaged and posting about my vows to my nonexistent fiance...you clearly do not know me very well ;) haha. Ahem.

1. I am not a princess (clearly, I would be queen), so I vow not to attempt to dress as one on my wedding day. Something classy and blue-white for the ceremony, something fun and short for the party!
2.  I vow to have an engagement party and, while I'm at it, an engagement longer than 3 months.Only in Utah is it socially acceptable to announce your engagement via facebook.
3. I vow to have a plated dinner. Dessert spreads are tired. Now a popsicle bar is something I could get behind.
4. I vow not to have a fondant wedding cake. It's a texture thing.
5. I vow not to wholly disregard my own hopes and dreams for that of my partner's. It just leads to spite, regret, and other sad and upsetting feelings.
6. I vow not to rub it in these women's faces that I have a bachelor's degree. An honors bachelor's degree. Ok, take that back...I will try really, really hard not to.
7. I vow to be very excited for them all to have kids. I have nightmares about having kids. So the fact that having them makes these girls so happy is just great.
8. I vow not to have any type of taffeta/silk/ugly-non-earth-friendly material in my home. period. Not in the form of window curtains, and certainly not in the form of bedding.
9. I vow not to have more than one hand towel on any hand towel rack. More than one is awkward. And let's be real, I plan on not having many house guests for a while...I am going to take full advantage of my newlywed status and the excuses it will make for my ridiculous behavior.
10. I vow to reserve the right to get married at a courthouse if I feel like I'm going to bolt at the real deal. As my friends and family, I'm sure you'd rather have me do that than bail on my own wedding. Let's be honest, I'm a flighty deer in these emotional situations and chances are, if I get scared I'm going to bolt into the nearest thicket. Like bambi was told to do.

So those are the ten that come to mind. And while I'm far from marriage or married life, at least I hope so, I still think about these things. It happens when all your friends are married or engaged. Meh.
